Regular Season Round 3: Iwate - Shizuoka 74-64

There was a small surprise when Iwate (1-5) won against at home Shizuoka (3-3) 74-64 on Saturday. Iwate dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Shizuoka's 32. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Nate Grimes (202-1996, college: Fresno St., agency: Agency) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Harumichi Ishikawa (170-1999) accounted for 16 points and 4 steals for the winning side. Four Iwate players scored in double figures. American forward John Harrar (205-1999, college: Penn St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Yuzo Okada (180-1992) added 8 points and 8 assists respectively for Shizuoka in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Iwate will meet Kumamoto V. (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shizuoka will play against Fukushima and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
