Regular Season Round 2: Iwate - Chiba 72-84

There was no surprise when Iwate was defeated at home by Chiba 84-72 on Sunday. They made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. American Brandon Ashley (206-1994, college: Arizona) scored 21 points to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center Dererk Pardon (203-1996, college: Northwestern) chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Chiba's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Slovenian forward Martin Krampelj (206-1995, college: Creighton) responded with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Takumi Nihira (191-1994) scored 17 points. Four Iwate players scored in double figures. Chiba will meet at home Koshigaya A. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Iwate will play against Shizuoka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
