Regular Season Round 4: Karaganda - Turan 49-60

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Turan (3-2) beat on the road bottom-ranked Karaganda (1-4) 60-49 on Saturday. Turan held Karaganda to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.8 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Karaganda 49-34 including a 40-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. Turan looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Karaganda's players. The winners were led by power forward Begzod Mammatrimov (198-2004) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and guard Alymzhan Maksutov (180-1994) supported him with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Turan's coach Yunus Irismetov used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 15 points and 9 rebounds by swingman Medeu Aukesh (195-2005) did not help to save the game for Karaganda. Point guard Pavel Brukhovets (175-2001) added 12 points for lost side. Newly promoted Turan maintains third position with 3-2 record having just two points less than leader Tigers-KazATU, which they share with Bars. Karaganda lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with four games lost. They share the position with ChelSU and Altay. Turan will meet at home Bars (#4) in the next round. Karaganda will play against ChelSU (#7) in Kostanay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
