Regular Season Round 3: Gifu - Veertien Mie 94-99

But Gifu was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Yokkaichi 99-94 on Saturday night. Veertien Mie made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Justin Pierce (201-1998, college: UNC) who led the winners and scored 37 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Josh Martin (201-1995, college: Santa Clara) accounted for 18 points and 22 rebounds for the winning side. Five Veertien Mie players scored in double figures. American-Dominican forward AJ Bramah (201-1999, college: Nevada) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Kaisei Takahashi (175-2003) added 16 points, 8 assists and 5 steals respectively for Gifu in the defeat. Gifu's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Veertien Mie will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gifu will play again against Veertien Mie (#15) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
