Regular Season Round 9: Mammoth - T-REX 96-145

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Mammoth (1-8) was crushed at home by fifth ranked T-REX (6-3) 145-96 on Sunday. T-REX dominated down low during the game scoring 110 of its points in the paint compared to Mammoth's 58. T-REX forced 26 Mammoth turnovers and outrebounded them 60-40 including a 40-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists. Filipino point guard Jeff Dumelod Viernes (172-1989) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals for the winners and American Tevis Robinson (198-1995, college: JWU, FL) chipped in 38 points (!!!), 18 rebounds and 5 blocks. Robinson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Coach B. Gabiola's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was center Nara Djaruwat (193) with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and Cholasit Kitbumroong (-2000) scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. T-REX have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with SWU. Mammoth lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with eight games lost.
