Regular Season Round 11: Dolphins - Warriors 100-73
Date: July 8, 2023
Very significant was Dolphins' (#2, 5-2) victory against 4th placed Warriors (3-4) 100-73. Dolphins forced 22 Warriors turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Madarious Gibbs (185-1993, college: Texas Southern) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 7 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import center Dominique Tham (195-1996, college: Mount Olive) accounted for 23 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side. Four Dolphins players scored in double figures. American power forward John Fields (205-1988, college: Tennessee, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international Justin Young (193-1993) added 3 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Warriors in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Dolphins have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 5-2 record behind leader Saigon Heat, which they share with Buffaloes. Warriors lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with four games lost. Dolphins will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Warriors will play on the road against Dragons (#7) in Danang and hope to get back on the winning track.
