Regular Season Round 60: Sendai 89ers - Gunma CT 85-91

Very expected game when 8th ranked Sendai 89ers (18-41) lost at home to fourth ranked Gunma CT (29-30) 91-85 on Saturday. Gunma CT forced 19 Sendai 89ers turnovers. Strangely Sendai 89ers outrebounded Gunma CT 45-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. American players dominated the game. The winners were led by guard Trey McKinney-Jones (198-1990, college: Miami, FL) who scored that evening 31 points (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) and center Kaleb Tarczewski (212-1993, college: Arizona) supported him with 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Gunma CT players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 27 points, 19 rebounds and 8 assists by forward Rashawn Thomas (203-1994, college: TAMUCC) did not help to save the game for Sendai 89ers. Nathan Boothe (206-1994, college: Toledo) added 25 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gunma CT have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 29-30 record. Sendai 89ers lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the eighth place with 41 games lost. Gunma CT will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sendai 89ers will play again against Gunma CT (#4) and hope to secure a win.
