Regular Season Round 60: FE Nagoya - Shimane SM 62-81
Date: May 6, 2023
Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked FE Nagoya (22-37) was outscored at home by second ranked Shimane SM (47-12) 81-62 on Saturday. Shimane SM dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to FE Nagoya's 16. They outrebounded FE Nagoya 42-26 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) who had that evening a triple-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists and the other American import forward Reid Travis (203-1995, college: Kentucky, agency: Pensack Sports) supported him with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Five Shimane SM players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 5 rebounds by American forward Jeremy Jones (201-1996, college: Gonzaga) did not help to save the game for FE Nagoya. Guard Kaito Ishikawa (188-1990) added 17 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shimane SM maintains second position with 47-12 record having just seven point less than leader Ryukyu GK. FE Nagoya lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth place with 37 games lost. They share the position with Kyoto H.. Shimane SM will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. FE Nagoya will play again against the league's second-placed Shimane SM (#2) and hope to secure a win.
