Regular Season Round 32: Lioneers - Fubon Braves 87-114
Date: May 1, 2023
Very expected game when 6th ranked Lioneers (12-24) were smashed by second ranked Fubon Braves (23-14) 114-87 on Monday. Fubon Braves looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Lioneers' players. The winners were led by American power forward Chris Johnson (210-1985, college: LSU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists and Ukrainian power forward Igor Zaytsev (210-1989, agency: BIG) supported him with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 17 points and 21 rebounds by the former international power forward Will Artino (211-1992, college: Creighton) did not help to save the game for Lioneers. Canadian forward Anthony Bennett (203-1993, college: UNLV) added 20 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for Fubon Braves. Four Lioneers players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fubon Braves maintains second position with 23-14 record having just three points less than leader Kings. Lioneers lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 24 games lost. Fubon Braves will meet Pilots (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Lioneers will play against the league's leader Kings in Taipei and hope to secure a win.
