Regular Season Round 59: Ibaraki R. - Akita NH 89-75

There was a small surprise in Mito where sixth ranked Ibaraki R. (22-36) beat 4th placed Akita NH (27-30) 89-75 on Sunday. Ibaraki R. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 6 rebounds. Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) helped adding 19 points and 11 rebounds. Center Steve Zack (211-1992, college: La Salle) responded with 6 points and 13 rebounds and Stanton Kidd (202-1992, college: Colorado St.) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ibaraki R.. They maintain sixth place with 22-36 record, which they share with FE Nagoya and Kyoto H. Akita NH lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with 30 games lost. Ibaraki R. will meet higher ranked Osaka E. (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Akita NH will play against Hokkaido L. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
