Regular Season Round 59: Ryukyu GK - Osaka E. 86-72

Everything went according to plan in Okinawa where first ranked Ryukyu GK (47-11) won against 5th ranked Osaka E. (26-32) 86-72 on Sunday. Ryukyu GK looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import power forward Jack Cooley (206-1991, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard DJ Newbill (193-1992, college: Penn St.) responded with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international forward Ira Brown (193-1982, college: Gonzaga) scored 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Ryukyu GK. They maintain first place with 47-11 record. Loser Osaka E. keeps the fifth position with 32 games lost. They share it with Sea Horses M.. Ryukyu GK will meet Hiroshima D. (#4) on the road in the next round. Osaka E. will play against Ibaraki R. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
