Regular Season Round 58: Ibaraki R. - Akita NH 91-82

There was a minor upset in Mito where 4th ranked Akita NH (27-29) was defeated by sixth ranked Ibaraki R. (21-36) 91-82 on Saturday. Ibaraki R. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) fired 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The other American import Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. American center Steve Zack (211-1992, college: La Salle) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 20 rebounds and point guard Noboru Hasegawa (173-1996) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Akita NH's coach Kenzo Maeda rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Ibaraki R. maintains sixth position with 21-36 record. Loser Akita NH keeps the fourth place with 29 games lost. Ibaraki R. will again meet at home higher ranked Akita NH (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Akita NH will have a break next round.
