Regular Season Round 58: Shimane SM - Hiroshima D. 74-87

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Shimane SM (45-12) against fourth ranked Hiroshima D. (40-16) on Saturday night. Host Shimane SM was defeated by Hiroshima D. in Shimane 87-74. Hiroshima D. made 20-of-23 charity shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Hiroshima D. outrebounded Shimane SM 39-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Shimane SM's players. American forward Kerry Blackshear Jr (208-1997, college: Florida) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and center Kai Soto (220-2002) supported him with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Five Hiroshima D. players scored in double figures. Even 40 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 7 assists by American forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Shimane SM. Australian Nick Kay (206-1992, college: MSU Denver) added 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Hiroshima D. moved-up to third place, which they share with Nagoya DD. Shimane SM at the other side keeps the second position with 12 games lost. Hiroshima D. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shimane SM will play again at home against Hiroshima D. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
