Regular Season Round 57: Osaka E. - Shiga L-Stars 83-82

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Osaka E. (26-30) edged at home 8th ranked Shiga L-Stars (12-43) 83-82 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 18-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Osaka E. looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard DJ Newbill (193-1992, college: Penn St.) nailed 27 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import power forward Sean OMara (208-1995, college: Xavier, agency: Inception Sports) accounted for 14 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Four Osaka E. players scored in double figures. American forward DeQuan Jones (203-1990, college: Miami, FL) came up with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Croatian power forward Ivan Buva (207-1991) added 19 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Shiga L-Stars in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Osaka E. maintains fifth place with 26-30 record, which they share with Gunma CT. Shiga L-Stars lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 43 games lost. Osaka E. will meet league's leader Ryukyu GK in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shiga L-Stars will play against Tochigi Brex (#3) and hope to secure a win.
