Regular Season Round 57: Ryukyu GK - Hitachi SRT 90-84

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Ryukyu GK as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Ryukyu GK defeated 4th placed Hitachi SRT in Okinawa 90-84. It looked good early as Hitachi SRT took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Ryukyu GK had a 23-17 second period charge getting the lead and Hitachi SRT was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 84-90. Ryukyu GK made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Hitachi SRT 42-31 including 19 on the offensive glass. American players dominated the game. Power forward Jack Cooley (206-1991, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 20 rebounds for the winners and power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) chipped in 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was Ryan Kelly (211-1991, college: Duke) with 26 points and 6 rebounds and forward James McAdoo (206-1993, college: UNC, agency: Slash Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ryukyu GK (45-11) have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Shimane SM. Hitachi SRT lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 31 games lost. Hitachi SRT will play next round against strong Yokohama BC trying to get back on the winning streak. Ryukyu GK will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Osaka E. at home.
