Regular Season Round 57: Hokkaido L. - Ibaraki R. 92-98

Rather expected game when 8th ranked Hokkaido L. (17-39) lost to sixth ranked Ibaraki R. (20-36) in Sapporo 92-98 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hokkaido L. won third quarter 26-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Ibaraki R. won last quarter 27-22. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. Ibaraki R. looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) nailed 22 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) accounted for 9 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Ibaraki R. players scored in double figures. American forward Shawn Long (208-1993, college: Louisiana, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (on 16-of-21 shooting from the field) and point guard Shuto Terazono (165-1994) added 11 points and 9 assists respectively for Hokkaido L. in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ibaraki R. maintains sixth place with 20-36 record. Loser Hokkaido L. keeps the eighth position with 39 games lost. Ibaraki R. will meet at home higher ranked Akita NH (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hokkaido L. will play against Sendai 89ers (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
