There was a minor upset in Sapporo where 6th ranked Ibaraki R. (19-36) was defeated by eighth ranked Hokkaido L. (17-38) 70-65 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of Australian forward Brock Motum (208-1990, college: WSU) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Shawn Long (208-1993, college: Louisiana, agency: Pensack Sports) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Hokkaido L.'s coach Kenichi Sako used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) responded with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks and his fellow American import Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Five Ibaraki R. players scored in double figures. Hokkaido L. maintains eighth position with 17-38 record. Loser Ibaraki R. keeps the sixth place with 36 games lost. Hokkaido L. will again meet at home higher ranked Ibaraki R. (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ibaraki R. will have a break next round.
