Regular Season Round 55: Akita NH - Sendai 89ers 95-89

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Sendai 89ers (18-36) were defeated on the road by fourth ranked Akita NH (27-27) 95-89 on Wednesday. Akita NH made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Center Steve Zack (211-1992, college: La Salle) fired 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Stanton Kidd (202-1992, college: Colorado St.) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Justin Burrell (207-1988, college: St.John's) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and forward Rashawn Thomas (203-1994, college: TAMUCC) added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Akita NH moved-up to third place, which they share with Tochigi Brex. Newly promoted Sendai 89ers keep the seventh position with 36 games lost. Akita NH will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sendai 89ers will play against the league's second-placed Alvark Tokyo (#2) and hope to secure a win.
