Regular Season Round 53: Nagoya DD - Hiroshima D. 91-88

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 3rd placed Hiroshima D. (38-14) was edged on the road by fourth ranked Nagoya DD (37-14) 91-88 on Saturday. Nagoya DD looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Coty Clarke (201-1992, college: Arkansas) stepped up and scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and center Alan Williams (203-1993, college: UCSB) chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Dwayne Evans (201-1992, college: St.Louis, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and forward Nick Mayo (206-1997, college: EKU, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hiroshima D.'s coach Kyle Milling tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Nagoya DD maintains fourth place with 37-14 record. Loser Hiroshima D. dropped to the second position with 14 games lost. They share it with Alvark Tokyo. Nagoya DD will again meet at home higher ranked Hiroshima D. (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hiroshima D. will have a break next round.
