Regular Season Round 51: Tochigi Brex - Ibaraki R. 66-72

There was an upset when 3rd placed Tochigi Brex (24-26) lost at home to seventh ranked Ibaraki R. (18-32) 72-66 on Sunday. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) accounted for 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. American center Grant Jerrett (208-1993, college: Arizona) came up with 15 points and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Makoto Hiejima (190-1990) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for Tochigi Brex in the defeat. Five Ibaraki R. and four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ibaraki R. moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Kyoto H. Tochigi Brex lost fourth consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the third position with 26 games lost. They share it with Hitachi SRT and Gunma CT. Ibaraki R. will meet at home higher ranked Gunma CT (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tochigi Brex will play against Sendai 89ers and hope to secure a win.
