Regular Season Round 53: Aomori W. - Tokyo Z 65-72

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Aomori W. (24-31) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Tokyo Z (14-41) 72-65 on Saturday. Tokyo Z outrebounded Aomori W. 41-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Ishmael Lane (203-1997, college: NSU) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import center David Simon (208-1982, college: PFW) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Alex Davis (206-1992, college: Fresno St., agency: Diamond Sports) produced 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and point guard Keisuke Aita (182-1995) added 10 points respectively for the hosts. Aomori W.'s coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tokyo Z maintains seventh place with 14-41 record. Aomori W. lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 31 games lost. Tokyo Z will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aomori W. will play again against Tokyo Z (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
