There was a small surprise in Sapporo where eighth ranked Hokkaido L. (15-34) defeated 5th ranked Gunma CT (24-25) 97-88 on Saturday. Hokkaido L. looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American forward Shawn Long (208-1993, college: Louisiana, agency: Pensack Sports) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Australian forward Brock Motum (208-1990, college: WSU) chipped in 29 points during the contest. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-1989, college: Ferris St.) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Narito Namizato (172-1989) scored 17 points and 9 assists. Five Gunma CT players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hokkaido L. maintains eighth position with 15-34 record. Gunma CT lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the third place with 25 games lost. They share the position with Tochigi Brex and Akita NH. Hokkaido L. will again meet at home higher ranked Gunma CT (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gunma CT will have a break next round.
