Regular Season Round 50: Tokyo Utd - Kagoshima 87-79

There was a minor upset when 4th ranked Kagoshima (41-11) lost on the road to sixth ranked Tokyo Utd (31-21) 87-79 on Friday. Tokyo Utd looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American swingman Michael Craig (196-1991, college: Southern Miss) notched 24 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the effort and the other American import Marcus Dove (206-1985, college: OK State) supported him with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Four Tokyo Utd players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds by American swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-1993, college: LCU) did not help to save the game for Kagoshima. Nigerian-American forward Michael Fakuade (201-1989, college: UIS) added 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Tokyo Utd maintains sixth position with 31-21 record. Loser Kagoshima keeps the fourth place with 11 games lost. Tokyo Utd will again meet at home higher ranked Kagoshima (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kagoshima will have a break next round.
