Everything went according to plan in Mito where fifth ranked Akita NH (24-24) beat 7th ranked Ibaraki R. (16-32) 76-70 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Ibaraki R. 47-36 including 33 on the defensive glass. Akita NH looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American center Steve Zack (211-1992, college: La Salle) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. His fellow American import Stanton Kidd (202-1992, college: Colorado St.) chipped in 23 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) produced 8 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Asahi Tajima (173-1988) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ibaraki R.'s coach Richard Glesmann gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Akita NH moved-up to third place, which they share with Tochigi Brex and Gunma CT. Loser Ibaraki R. keeps the seventh position with 32 games lost.
