Regular Season Round 49: Hokkaido L. - Sendai 89ers 82-74

There was a minor upset in Sapporo where 6th ranked Sendai 89ers (17-31) were defeated by eighth ranked Hokkaido L. (14-34) 82-74 on Wednesday. Hokkaido L. outrebounded Sendai 89ers 39-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. American forward Shawn Long (208-1993, college: Louisiana, agency: Pensack Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds for the winners. Australian forward Brock Motum (208-1990, college: WSU) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Rashawn Thomas (203-1994, college: TAMUCC) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import Nathan Boothe (206-1994, college: Toledo) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hokkaido L. maintains eighth place with 14-34 record. Newly promoted Sendai 89ers keep the sixth position with 31 games lost. Hokkaido L. will meet at home higher ranked Gunma CT (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sendai 89ers will play against the league's leader Chiba Jets having rather not much hope for a victory.
