Regular Season Round 49: Veertien Mie - Tokyo HT 79-82

A very close game took place in Yokkaichi between Tokyo HT and Veertien Mie. Eleventh ranked Tokyo HT (16-34) got a very close victory on the road over 10th ranked Veertien Mie (18-32). Tokyo HT managed to escape with a 3-point win 82-79 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Veertien Mie. American power forward John Fields (205-1988, college: Tennessee, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and Spanish center David Doblas (208-1981) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the losing side American forward Josh Martin (201-1995, college: Santa Clara) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Tucker Haymond (198-1994, college: W.Michigan) scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Tokyo HT maintains eleventh place with 16-34 record, which they share with Kanazawa. Newly promoted Veertien Mie keeps the tenth position with 32 games lost. Tokyo HT's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Yokohama EX.
