Regular Season Round 48: San-en NP - Toyama G. 66-81
Date: April 2, 2023
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked San-en NP (18-29) lost to seventh ranked Toyama G. (9-38) in Hamamatsu 66-81 on Sunday. Toyama G. made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by American center Joshua Smith (208-1992, college: Georgetown) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and British forward Myles Hesson (198-1990, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 22 points. Even 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists by Filipino guard Ferdinand Ravena (189-1996) did not help to save the game for San-en NP. American center Kyle OQuinn (206-1990, college: Norfolk St., agency: Pensack Sports) added 10 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyama G. maintains seventh position with 9-38 record. Loser San-en NP keeps the sixth place with 29 games lost. Toyama G. will meet at home Niigata A. (#8) in the next round. San-en NP will play against Nagoya DD and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
