There was no surprise when 3rd placed Kumamoto V. (31-22) was defeated on the road by first ranked Chiba (41-12) 94-83 on Saturday. Chiba made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward Leo Lyons (206-1987, college: Missouri) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import Brandon Ashley (206-1994, college: Arizona) helped adding 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Chiba players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was British forward Benjamin Lawson (216-1995, college: WKU) with 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and point guard Ren Nagashima (177-1997) scored 10 points and 7 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Chiba maintains first place with 41-12 record. Loser Kumamoto V. keeps the third position with 22 games lost. Chiba will again meet at home Kumamoto V. (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Kumamoto V. will have a break next round.
