Regular Season Round 48: Gifu - Tokyo Utd 70-100
Date: April 1, 2023
Rather expected game when 9th ranked Gifu (18-31) was crushed at home by sixth ranked Tokyo Utd (30-19) 100-70 on Saturday. Tokyo Utd looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Michael Craig (196-1991, college: Southern Miss) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Point guard Hiroki Higashi (185-1995) chipped in 19 points. Four Tokyo Utd players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Noah Dahlman (202-1989, college: Wofford) who recorded 16 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Jerrell Wright (204-1991, college: La Salle) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Tokyo Utd maintains sixth position with 30-19 record. Gifu lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 31 games lost. They share the position with Veertien Mie. Tokyo Utd will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gifu will play again against Tokyo Utd (#6) and hope to secure a win.
