Regular Season Round 48: Kagoshima - Yamaguchi 83-67

There was no surprise in Renova where 14th ranked Yamaguchi (13-36) was defeated by fourth ranked Kagoshima (39-10) 83-67 on Saturday. Kagoshima outrebounded Yamaguchi 37-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-1993, college: LCU) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Nigerian-American forward Michael Fakuade (201-1989, college: UIS) chipped in 22 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Jamaican-British center Ryan Richards (212-1991) who recorded 19 points and 7 rebounds and guard Doi Hikaru (189-1998) added 11 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kagoshima have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Shizuoka. Loser Yamaguchi keeps the fourteenth position with 36 games lost. They share it with Tachikawa. Kagoshima will again meet at home Yamaguchi (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Yamaguchi will have a break next round.
