There was an upset in Qingdao where higher ranked Jilin Tigers (19-20) were defeated by fifteenth ranked Eagles (17-23) 102-92 on Friday. Eagles outrebounded Jilin Tigers 54-32 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Eagles made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for South Sudanese-Australian center Duop Reath (210-1996, college: LSU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Ruize Wang (197-1995) helped adding 28 points and 10 rebounds. Eagles' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American guard Dominique Jones (193-1988, college: S.Florida) responded with a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 8 assists and Yuxing Jiang (193-1995) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Five Eagles and four Jilin Tigers players scored in double figures. Eagles maintains fifteenth place with 17-23 record. Jilin Tigers lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with 20 games lost. Eagles will meet at home Blue Whales (#18) in the next round. Jilin Tigers will play against Guangsha Lions (#6) and hope to secure a win.
