We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Doha where sixth ranked Al Arabi (4-2) defeated 5th ranked Al Rayyan (5-3) 72-64 on Friday. Al Arabi dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Al Rayyan's 22. Al Arabi had a 38-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 44 assists. It was a great evening for American-Nigerian guard Kelechi Ajukwa (201-1995, college: Charlotte) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists. American Xavier Ford (203-1993, college: Buffalo) helped adding 21 points, 14 rebounds, 14 assists and 4 steals. At the losing side American guard Malik Curry (185-1999, college: WVU, agency: Green Sports Management) responded with 30 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and Senegalese power forward Mouhammad Faye (207-1985, college: SMU) produced a triple-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds and 14 assists. Al Arabi have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Qatar Club and Al Shamal. Loser Al Rayyan dropped to the second position with three games lost. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharafa.
