Regular Season Round 42: Shanxi L. - Sichuan BW 128-111

There was no surprise in Taiyuan where 17th ranked Blue Whales (10-28) were defeated by ninth ranked Loongs (21-18) 128-111 on Tuesday. Loongs dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Blue Whales' 42 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Loongs looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Kahlil Felder (175-1995, college: Oakland) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 assists. Ning Zhang (192-1997) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Marlain Veal (175-1996, college: SE Louisiana) who recorded 30 points (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) and center Xuhong Zhao (215-1996) added 13 points and 18 rebounds respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Loongs maintains ninth position with 21-18 record. Blue Whales lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighteenth place with 28 games lost. Loongs will meet at home higher ranked Flying Leopards (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Blue Whales will play against Jiangsu Dragons (#14) in Nanjing and hope to secure a win.
