Regular Season Round 46: Shiga L-Stars - Hitachi SRT 93-68

There was an upset when higher ranked Hitachi SRT (21-24) was crushed on the road by eighth ranked Shiga L-Stars (9-36) 93-68 on Sunday. Shiga L-Stars outrebounded Hitachi SRT 47-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international guard Kai Toews (188-1998, college: UNCW) fired 21 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. American forward Kelvin Martin (196-1989, college: Charleston So.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. American forward Kevin Jones (206-1989, college: WVU) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import Ryan Kelly (211-1991, college: Duke) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shiga L-Stars have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 9-36 record. Loser Hitachi SRT keeps the third place with 24 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will meet at home league's second-placed Yokohama BC in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Hitachi SRT will play against Tochigi Brex and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
