Regular Season Round 46: Shizuoka - Shinagawa 101-69
Date: March 25, 2023
There was no surprise when 16th ranked Shinagawa (7-40) was crushed on the road by third ranked Shizuoka (38-9) 101-69 on Saturday. Shizuoka outrebounded Shinagawa 50-28 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Shinagawa's players. Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-1988, agency: Interperformances) had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Bahamas forward Tavario Miller (203-1994, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 16 points and 16 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. Elsener attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. Four Shizuoka players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward AJ Bramah (201-1999, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Yuto Sasaki (186-1998) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Shizuoka maintains third position with 38-9 record having just two points less than leader Iwate. Loser Shinagawa stay dead last with 40 lost games. Shizuoka will again meet at home bottom-ranked Shinagawa (#16) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Shinagawa will have a break next round.
