Regular Season Round 6: Al Arabi - Al Sadd 85-84

Round 6 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Al Sadd (3-1). They were edged by seventh ranked Al Arabi (3-2) 85-84 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Sadd. Al Arabi looked well-organized offensively handing out 48 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Al Arabi made 7 blocks. American-Nigerian guard Kelechi Ajukwa (201-1995, college: Charlotte) had a triple-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Ousmane Dieng chipped in 16 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-German forward Waverly Austin (211-1991, college: Oregon, agency: Diamond Sports) with a triple-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds and 15 assists and Libyan point guard Mohameed Elsadi (190-1995) produced a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists. Four Al Sadd players scored in double figures. Al Arabi have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Qatar Club and Al Wakrah. Defending champion Al Sadd dropped to the third position with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Al Shamal. Al Sadd will play next round against league's leader Al Shamal trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha - Al Shamal. Al Arabi will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Al Rayyan. It will be extra interesting game as Al Rayyan is their local rival from Doha.
