Regular Season Round 45: Ryukyu GK - Sendai 89ers 75-73

Sixth-ranked Sendai 89ers (15-29) were very close to win a game against second ranked Ryukyu GK (35-9) in Okinawa on Saturday. Ryukyu GK managed to secure only two-point victory 75-73. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sendai 89ers. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) who led his team to a victory with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Power forward Jack Cooley (206-1991, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. Forward Justin Burrell (207-1988, college: St.John's) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds and Nathan Boothe (206-1994, college: Toledo) added 18 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ryukyu GK have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain second place with 35-9 record having just seven point less than leader Shimane SM, which they share with Alvark Tokyo. Newly promoted Sendai 89ers keep the sixth position with 29 games lost. They share it with Ibaraki R.. Ryukyu GK is again looking forward to face Sendai 89ers (#6) at home in the next round. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round.
