Regular Season Round 44: Hitachi SRT - Niigata A. 97-93

Very expected game in Tokyo where 8th ranked Niigata A. (6-37) was defeated by third ranked Hitachi SRT (21-22) 97-93 on Wednesday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Hitachi SRT looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American Ryan Kelly (211-1991, college: Duke) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and the other American import forward Kevin Jones (206-1989, college: WVU) who added 20 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Jamaican center Kofi Cockburn (213-1999, college: Illinois) responded with 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Hungarian-American Rosco Allen (208-1993, college: Stanford, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Hitachi SRT and four Niigata A. players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Hitachi SRT maintains third position with 21-22 record having six points less than leader Shimane SM. Loser Niigata A. keeps the eighth place with 37 games lost. Hitachi SRT will meet Shiga L-Stars (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Niigata A. will play against the league's leader Chiba Jets and hope to secure a win.
