There was an upset in Tianjin where higher ranked Eagles (16-21) were defeated by nineteenth ranked Pioneers (8-29) 115-101 on Monday. Pioneers made 29-of-31 free shots (93.5 percent) during the game, while Eagles only scored eleven points from the stripe. Pioneers looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Pioneers made 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Quinndary Weatherspoon (190-1996, college: MSU) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and the other American import point guard Brandon Jefferson (175-1991, college: MSU Denver) who added 25 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side Ruize Wang (197-1995) responded with 28 points and 8 rebounds and South Sudanese-Australian center Duop Reath (210-1996, college: LSU) scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Eagles' coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Pioneers maintains nineteenth position with 8-29 record. Loser Eagles keep the fourteenth place with 21 games lost. They share the position with Jiangsu D.. Pioneers will meet at home higher ranked Heroes (#6) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Eagles will play against Sturgeons (#18) in Jinjiang and hope to secure a win.
