Fifth-ranked Fukuoka R. (16-33) gave a tough game to second ranked Nagasaki (34-15). The visitors from Nagasaki managed to secure only two-point victory 83-81. However their fans expected easier game. Nagasaki forced 20 Fukuoka R. turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Matt Bonds (196-1995, college: St.Michael's) who led the winners and scored 17 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Point guard Masaya Karimata (178-1988) accounted for 13 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Four Nagasaki players scored in double figures. American forward Jordan Glynn (200-1989, college: SF Austin) came up with 18 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Kevin Kotzur (203-1989, college: St.Mary's, TX, agency: Green Sports Management) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Fukuoka R. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Nagasaki maintains second place with 34-15 record having four points less than leader Chiba. Fukuoka R. lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 33 games lost. Nagasaki will play against Kumamoto V. (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Fukuoka R. will play against Ehime OV in Matsuyama and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
