Regular Season Round 45: Saitama - Gifu 78-61

Very expected game when 9th ranked Gifu (18-28) was defeated on the road by second ranked Saitama (38-8) 78-61. American power forward Ryan Watkins (206-1991, college: Boise St., agency: Slash Sports) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and Nigerian-American power forward Maxie Esho (206-1991, college: UMass) accounted for 19 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Noah Dahlman (202-1989, college: Wofford) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Jerrell Wright (204-1991, college: La Salle) added 12 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Gifu in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Saitama. They maintain second place with 38-8 record behind leader Iwate. Gifu at the other side keeps the ninth position with 28 games lost. Saitama will play against Tokyo HT (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gifu will play against Yokohama EX and hopes to get back on the winning track.
