Regular Season Round 46: Kagawa FA - Fukushima 66-104
Date: March 18, 2023
Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Kagawa FA (12-36) was outscored by fourth ranked Fukushima (23-25) in Takamatsu 104-66 on Saturday. Fukushima dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Kagawa FA's 26 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Fukushima looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Kagawa FA's players. Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-1990, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) notched 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American guard Addison Spruill (195-1993, college: UNCW) supported him with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 8 rebounds by Australian forward Rhys Vague (206-1996) did not help to save the game for Kagawa FA. American center Nigel Spikes (208-1989, college: Marshall) added 8 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fukushima maintains fourth position with 23-25 record. Kagawa FA lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 36 games lost. Fukushima will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kagawa FA will play again against Fukushima (#4) and hope to secure a win.
