Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Ibaraki R. (15-26) lost to third ranked Hiroshima D. (30-11) in Mito 72-90 on Saturday. Hiroshima D. outrebounded Ibaraki R. 36-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Center Kai Soto (220-2002) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and American forward Dwayne Evans (201-1992, college: St.Louis, agency: Pensack Sports) supported him with 16 points. Four Hiroshima D. players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 6 rebounds by American Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) did not help to save the game for Ibaraki R.. His fellow American import forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) added 12 points and 5 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hiroshima D. maintains third position with 30-11 record having just five point less than leader Shimane SM. Loser Ibaraki R. keeps the sixth place with 26 games lost. Hiroshima D. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ibaraki R. will play again against Hiroshima D. (#3) and hope to secure a win.
