Regular Season Round 42: Shinshu BW - Ryukyu GK 66-81

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Ryukyu GK's (32-9) road victory over 3rd ranked Shinshu BW (19-22) in Nagano 81-66 on Saturday. Ryukyu GK looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) notched 26 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import power forward Jack Cooley (206-1991, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) supported him with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Ryukyu GK's coach Dai Oketani used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists by point guard Ko Kumagai (173-1996) did not help to save the game for Shinshu BW. The former international forward Josh Hawkinson (208-1995, college: WSU) added 14 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ryukyu GK have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 32-9 record having just seven point less than leader Shimane SM, which they share with Alvark Tokyo. Loser Shinshu BW dropped to the fourth place with 22 games lost. They share the position with FE Nagoya and Osaka E.. Ryukyu GK will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shinshu BW will play again against the league's second-placed Ryukyu GK (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
