Regular Season Round 42: Akita NH - Yokohama BC 84-80

Sixteenth defeat of league's leader Yokohama BC (25-16) against fourth ranked Akita NH (22-19) 84-80 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Yokohama BC. Akita NH made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a good game for American center Steve Zack (211-1992, college: La Salle) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 17 rebounds and 9 assists. The other American import Stanton Kidd (202-1992, college: Colorado St.) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. International guard Yuki Kawamura (169-2001) replied with 25 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American center Charles Jackson (208-1993, college: Tenn Tech) added 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Yokohama BC. Four Yokohama BC players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Akita NH maintains fourth position with 22-19 record. Yokohama BC at the other side still keeps top place with 16 games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Shimane SM who have the same record. Yokohama BC will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Akita NH will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Yokohama BC at home.
