Everything went according to plan in Yingkou where third ranked Flying Leopards (26-8) outscored bottom-ranked Rockets (2-34) 97-71 on Friday. They outrebounded Rockets 48-33 including 40 on the defensive glass. Flying Leopards looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Eric Moreland (208-1991, college: Oregon St.) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. The former international Ailun Guo (189-1993) chipped in 22 points and 8 assists. Four Flying Leopards players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Dewan Hernandez (211-1997, college: Miami, FL) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import point guard Brandon Taylor (178-1994, college: Utah, agency: Pensack Sports) added 19 points and 6 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains third place with 26-8 record having five points less than leader Zhejiang GB. Rockets lost fourteenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 34 lost games. Flying Leopards will meet at home Aviators (#4) in the next round. Rockets will play against Sturgeons (#18) in Jinjiang and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
