The game in Taiyuan supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Guandong Tigers (27-6) played at the court of 8th ranked Loongs (18-16). Guandong Tigers smashed Loongs 129-99 on Monday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Loongs. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Loongs' 42. They outrebounded Loongs 51-34 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guandong Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists. American MarShon Brooks (197-1989, college: Providence) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and international point guard Jie Xu (181-2000) chipped in 21 points and 9 assists. At the losing side the former international Shuai Yuan (194-1994) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Jonathon Simmons (198-1989, college: Houston) scored 25 points and 6 assists. Five Guandong Tigers and four Loongs players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Guandong Tigers. They maintain second place with 27-6 record having just two points less than leader Zhejiang GB. Loser Loongs keep the eighth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Jilin NE T.. Guandong Tigers will meet Eagles (#15) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Loongs will play against Royal Fighters (#16) and hope to secure a win.
