Very expected game in Shenzhen where 17th ranked Blue Whales (9-25) were rolled over by fourth ranked Aviators (24-11) 117-98 on Sunday. Aviators forced 19 Blue Whales turnovers and outrebounded them 47-30 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. American forward Jared Sullinger (206-1992, college: Ohio St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and international Xining He (195-1997) chipped in 26 points and 4 assists. At the losing side American point guard Marlain Veal (175-1996, college: SE Louisiana) responded with 29 points and guard Xiaoyong Yu (189-2003) scored 18 points. Four Aviators and five Blue Whales players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Aviators. They maintain fourth place with 24-11 record. Loser Blue Whales keep the seventeenth position with 25 games lost. Aviators will meet at home Ducks (#7) in the next round. Blue Whales will play against Rockets (#20) in Ningbo and hope to secure a win.
