Regular Season Round 41: Hitachi SRT - Gunma CT 80-87

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 4th placed Hitachi SRT's (19-21) home loss to third ranked Gunma CT (23-17) 80-87 on Sunday. Gunma CT dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi SRT's 30 and made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Gunma CT looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Trey McKinney-Jones (198-1990, college: Miami, FL) stepped up and scored 26 points and 5 assists (was perfect 14-for-14 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and naturalized American forward Michael Parker (202-1981, college: Evergreen St.) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Kevin Jones (206-1989, college: WVU) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import Ryan Kelly (211-1991, college: Duke) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Hitachi SRT players scored in double figures. Hitachi SRT's coach Tsutomu Isa rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Gunma CT maintains third place with 23-17 record having thirteen points less than leader Yokohama BC which they share with defeated Hitachi SRT. Loser Hitachi SRT dropped to the third position with 21 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Gunma CT will meet league's second-placed Kawasaki BT in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hitachi SRT's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Alvark Tokyo.
