Regular Season Round 37: Ningbo R. - Jilin NE T. 95-96

There was no surprise in Ningbo where 20th ranked Rockets (2-33) were edged by eighth ranked Jilin Tigers (18-16) 96-95 on Sunday. Jilin Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Rockets' 46. Jilin Tigers forced 19 Rockets turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Dominique Jones (193-1988, college: S.Florida) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 31 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Yuxing Jiang (193-1995) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American power forward Dewan Hernandez (211-1997, college: Miami, FL) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Xuan Wang (184-1997) scored 14 points and 6 assists. Four Jilin Tigers and five Rockets players scored in double figures. Rockets' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Jilin Tigers. They maintain eighth place with 18-16 record, which they share with Shanxi L. Rockets lost their thirteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 33 lost games. Jilin Tigers will meet higher ranked Heroes (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rockets will play against Blue Whales (#17) and hope to secure a win.
